Coroner Géhane Kamel will present the conclusions of her report on the deaths of seniors in CHSLDs at 1 p.m. This was made public earlier this week.

The coroner attributes the carnage caused by COVID-19 in CHSLDs to decades of failing public policies that were already known.

“It will undoubtedly have unfortunately taken this health emergency without precedent in the history of Quebec to bring the actors together around the same table and to begin this necessary discussion on the future of our seniors”, can we read in the report of inquest by coroner Géhane Kamel.

The investigation looked at the 53 deaths that occurred in CHSLDs and RPAs between March 12 and May 1, 2020, at the start of the health and social crisis.
