Designers are pushing the boundaries to make their superyachts stand out in a market that is seeing record-breaking numbers.

We've seen many unusual yacht designs over the years inspired by sharks, spaceships, post-apocalyptic movies and even origami.

This new design by Bhushan Powar Design, an Indian yacht design studio, may be the most striking to date.

Zion, a 110-meter vessel, has a spectacular glass dome that looks almost like an eye or "black hole".

Eye-catching design

It serves as a viewing platform on the superyacht and offers 360-degree views.

"Our concept attracts attention with its modern elegance, and surprises the owner by the mysteries of deep," the designers say. Before pointing out that "attracts energy" are black holes -- points in space so dense they create deep gravity sinks -- the designers said.

Zion will feature a glass bottom swimming pool and a glass elevator, both of which are its most prominent features.

The vessel's upper deck has an aluminum structure and features a flybridge that allows passengers to relax and enjoy the view "in all conditions". A 12-meter helipad and a flybridge are also available.

Amazing amenities

There are 10 staterooms with luxurious amenities onboard, as well as a master suite on deck that has an electrically controlled sky lounge balcony.

The lower deck includes a beach club with a gym, and open garden space. This can be converted into a large sunbathing area via the foldout terraces to either side.

Zion is estimated to cost between $500 million and $600million. It will have a large tender yard that houses jet skis as well as other water toys.

Although it is still a concept, Bhushan Powar, founder of the design studio, believes that Zion will become a reality.

He admits, however, that it will take much time and research before this can be determined.

Bhushan Powar Design, based in Goa was established in 2019 and is known as India's "first luxury yacht design studio."

Innovative concepts

Powar says that the Arabian Sea is a major influence on the studio's designs.

The design team presented Mori, a superyacht concept measuring 90 meters that was inspired by the shortfin mako shark.

One of many innovative concepts that were revealed this year is Zion. Lazzarini Design Studio, a Rome-based design firm, recently introduced Air Yacht. This new concept can "sail in both the sky and the ocean," according to Lazzarini Design Studio.

SkyStyle, a fellow Italian design studio, showcased its latest design Unique 71 in January. It is a 71-meter superyacht shaped as a knife.
