Tv host: Ugly women have no chance on the screen

'the Ugly women will never find its way to the screen.'

The attention-grabbing sentence above is perhaps just an allegation. But it is at the same time the plain truth.

In any case, if you ask a journalist Nynne Bjerre Christensen, who is a former tv host at DR-program 'Deadline'.

"It's a hundred percent true," she says to the claim, which comes from the Politiken mediekommentator Søren Schultz Jørgensen.

Nynne Bjerre continues:

"I do not think that you, as a woman has a chance to be a tv host, if you do not look good, or at least can get to look good."

"You don't necessarily need to be a fashion model, but you should with the right help and guidance be able to get to look good," she says.

Her statement is the latest shot in the debate on the gender production of the female tv show hosts.

The debate has arisen in the wake of that the DR host Lise Rønne the other day in an op-ed piece raising the cry of sexism in the form of a degrading linguistic processing in Politiken.

But the debate has only 'the brush a little in the nail Polish', writes Søren Schultz Jørgensen. For sexismen of the female studieværter disappear first, when the tv stations keeps up with to speculate in it, he believes.

the 44-year-old Nynne Bjerre Christensen knows all about, to 'fuckability' is a criterion to be female tv host.

As a consequence, she fully resolved that her time as a tv host runs out. For a few years she will be judged 'too old', I predict she.

"I have soberly discussed with myself, to the tv, I should make it should I make before I fill 48 or 50 years," she says and continues:

"There is a wider range of men in relation to age and appearance. In Denmark smoking women typically out of the studio as hosts, when they become 50 years. So, being the live-reporters instead."

According to Nynne Bjerre Christensen due to tv-channel use of the attractive, relatively younger female studieværter among other stereotypes from the editors behind the programmes.

It is simply a succesopskrift to have beautiful women to grab the viewers.

"Basically, the editors don't want hosts to encounter the viewers from themselves," she says.

the Tv host says she has an understanding of the mechanisms behind that attractive women are preferred to tone up on the monitors at the home of the danes.

But she calls at the same time, the courage to do things differently. The hosts do not need ose of sex.

"It is fair, when you come into people's homes every day, you make effort to look good."

"But it would be great if women were not being styled – in some cases – challenging with nedringede dresses."

"I think it is a cultural thing, as we can work with as a society. And the editors may be better to curate the hosts, which differ from the mainstream," she continues.

According to Nynne Bjerre Christensen, the individual female host also take a responsibility. Together with editors and stylists the host can help to shape their own look.

"the girls Should necessarily have long wavy curls or clothing, where you think, that it looks like that one is on the way to a party? You could maybe emphasise the other things at the a look, when you styler women," says Nynne Bjerre Christensen.
