The AfD-Chairman Jörg Meuthen continues to demonstrate distance-right extremists. "Right-wing extremists, we do not tolerate in our ranks," he said on Sunday in the ARD-"summer interview". The Federal office for the protection of the Constitution (BfV) considers, among other things, the now officially defunct "wings" of the AfD as right-wing extremist. The members of the former grouping will continue to be monitored by the BfV. Meuthen said on Sunday that party members were "all unreasonable people, not at all".
To the plans of the AfD for the election to the Bundestag expressed Meuthen only vaguely. On the question of whether the party would field a candidate for Chancellor, he said, he have to be the "really, no thoughts to waste". He did not think, however, that such an approach "would not be wise", as the AfD after the election, "foreseeable" to the Chancellor.
