2nd league: Kaiserslautern wins in Kiel, HSV confidently

One day after FC St. Pauli's victory, Holstein Kiel missed out on returning to the top of the 2nd Bundesliga table. After six previous games without conceding a goal, coach Marcel Rapp's team conceded several goals in a 1:3 (1:2) draw against relegation candidate 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Kaiserslautern ended its run of five league games without a win and temporarily climbed out of the relegation zone to 15th place.

Third-placed Fortuna Düsseldorf failed to score more than 1-1 (0-0) in the evening game at FC Schalke 04. At least substitute Ao Tanaka (67th) saved coach Daniel Thioune's team another point. Former Düsseldorf player Kenan Karaman (55th) happily shot Schalke into the lead.

The Düsseldorf team did not take advantage of the defeat in Kiel. The gap to second place remains five points, the lead over fourth-placed Hamburger SV has shrunk to four points.

Glatzel feeds HSV hope

With a brace, Robert Glatzel was able to give HSV its last chance in the promotion race and increase Eintracht Braunschweig's relegation worries again. In the 4-0 (2-0) victory over the strong HSV in Braunschweig, the goalscorer laid the foundation for the clear success with his goals in the tenth and 22nd minutes.

With three remaining games of the season, Hamburg can still hope for a promotion relegation spot. Due to their first defeat after two games, the Braunschweig team failed to move further away from the relegation zone.

Paderborn ends negative home series

SC Paderborn defeated SV Elversberg and ended their negative home series. Coach Lukas Kwasniok's team deservedly defeated the Saarland team 3-1 (0-0). For the SCP it was the first home win in the league since the beginning of February. The East Westphalians now have 46 points and are seventh in the table. Newly promoted Elversberg is in tenth place with 40 points.
