Spring cleaning: Clean the balcony: This is how your outdoor oasis is spring-fit in five steps

The balcony should not be neglected during spring cleaning. There are many reasons for cleaning the outdoor oasis in addition to aesthetics: If dirt and moisture remain on the balcony, materials can be damaged. Regular cleaning in the spring can prevent damage. Allergic reactions can also be triggered by dirt and dust. Spring cleaning helps minimize these health risks. But what is the best and most effective way to clean your balcony? And what cleaning products are helpful? The star provides instructions for spring cleaning on the balcony.

To begin with, all furniture and objects should be removed from the balcony. These should then be wiped with a damp cloth to remove dirt. Be careful not to damage the furniture or scratch the flooring while moving. If you have planted balcony boxes, protect them during the cleaning process by covering them with foil or cloths.

Thoroughly check the balcony for cobwebs. Most cobwebs are in the corners and on the walls. Use a broom or vacuum cleaner for this. Wipe the railings and other surfaces of the balcony with a damp cloth to remove cobwebs. Repeat cleaning regularly to avoid cobwebs in the future. Some of the most common prey species for spiders are flies, mosquitoes, beetles, and other flying insects that are often found near light sources. So if you have light sources on your balcony or if there are a lot of insects around, this can lead to spiders living in the area. However, there are also lamps that destroy insects. The light attracts the little animals and acts particularly well as a mosquito killer.

Next up is cleaning the floor of the balcony. A broom or vacuum cleaner should first be used to remove coarse dirt. Stubborn stains can be removed with a high-pressure cleaner. Special cleaning agents can help with stubborn stains on stone floors or tiles.

Clean the floor with water. There are special cleaning agents for stone floors, wood and tiles. Pay attention to which agent is suitable for your floor covering. Do not use aggressive detergents that could damage the floor. Work from the top down: start by cleaning the top corners, then work your way down. After cleaning, allow the floor to dry thoroughly before replacing furniture or plants.

Once all the dirt on the floor has been removed, the balcony railings and parapets should also be cleaned. Coarse dirt can be removed with a hand brush. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to suck up dirt particles. Then you should wipe the railing with a damp cloth.

Here it is advisable to use a mild detergent and a soft cloth to avoid scratches and damage. You should then rinse the railing thoroughly with clear water to remove residues of the cleaning agent. To avoid water stains, it is advisable to use a dry, soft cloth or chamois leather.
