A meeting takes place in the Interior Ministry between John (Sebastian Blomberg), Gehlen (Martin Wuttke), Chancellor Globke (Sascha Nathan) and Interior Minister Schröder (Christian Erdmann). John is confronted with the counterfeiter Heimann (Moritz Führmann) about Wolfgang's "rough" interrogation methods. Meanwhile, in Belgium, Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) meets his contact from Mossad, who was able to decode the "Heimann list". He negotiates a deal with the Israeli agent: the Ministry of Defense gets Brunner (André Eisermann), and the Mossad gets all the other war criminals on the list.

Ironically, Alex Holtkamp (Ina Paule Klink), Wilsberg's goddaughter, represents Silke Sestendrup in the maintenance dispute against Ekki. At least Wilsberg agrees to help Ekki and to take a closer look at his colleague Lavinia (Ina Paule Klink), who was promoted in Ekki's place.

The fisherman Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) is kidnapped during the civil war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s and forced to work in diamond mines. There he finds a rare pink diamond in the rough, hides it and later reports it to mercenary Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) in prison. After escaping, Archer sets out with US journalist Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) to look for Solomon in the troubled provinces controlled by rebels.

October 3, 1993 in the Somali capital Mogadishu: civil war and chaos reign in the city - and the warlord Aidid reigns supreme. The US wants to put an end to his regime quickly. Their plan: advance into his quarters with helicopters and ground troops moving up. But the fighting in the streets of Mogadishu is spiraling out of control. 16 hours of a costly battle ends in disaster for US troops.
