It is meant to be a reminder of his mother's life's work: King Charles III. (74) planted a tree in the garden of Bellevue Palace during his trip to Germany.

Together with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (67), he dug the manna ash, which the Federal Association of German Tree Nurseries had donated, into the ground. The background is the initiative "The Queen's Green Canopy", with which the platinum throne jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II was honored last year. As part of this, trees had already been planted in several other German cities (including Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Munich).

"I am delighted that our successful campaign is now coming to a truly royal conclusion," said British Ambassador Jill Gallard (54). "A new generation of trees will now enrich our lives and the lives of our children, in the spirit of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her son, His Majesty King Charles III.
