And because the greeting ("May the force be with you") and the date "May, the Fourth" sound damn similar in English, May 4th has become the worldwide "Star Wars" day. Actress Natalie Portman (42) used the festive occasion to remember her role in the prequel trilogy and to honor a milestone anniversary - and Mark Hamill (72) met the most powerful man in the world.
Alongside a picture of her in her magnificent role as Princess Padmé Amidala, Portman wrote: "It's been 25 years since the premiere of 'The Phantom Menace'... and now the film is coming back to theaters for a limited time! I "I'm still in awe of all the people who brought these films to life - and the storytelling of George Lucas."
In the comments section, countless “Star Wars” fans celebrate with Portman, including some prominent hobby Jedis like Reese Witherspoon (48). The Oscar winner took on the role of the princess and later mother of Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in all three parts of the prequel trilogy. The prequel to the original trilogy started in cinemas in 1999 with “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”. This was followed by "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" in 2002 and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" in 2005.
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill, who is known for posting diligently on social media, will also live up to his reputation on "Star Wars" day - and how: On Friday (May 3rd) he was a guest at US President Joe Biden (81) in the White House. And who knows power better than the most powerful man in the world?
He published a photo of the meeting on X, in which the two of them are smiling and putting their arms around each other's shoulders. Hamill wrote: "May May 4th be the day that a would-be protector of the galaxy meets a true protector of democracy." He suggested a new nickname for the president, which Biden immediately took to heart: "Joe-B-Wan Kenobi."
Exactly one month late, from June 4th, 2024, Star Wars fans can examine the next series from the “Star Wars” universe. Then the series “The Acolyte” starts on the Disney streaming service, which is set around seven decades before “Episode I” and “takes viewers into a galaxy full of dark secrets and emerging forces of the dark side in the last days of the High Republic”.
