Joe Biden: President fingers crossed for US team in Qatar

Joe Biden (80) wishes the US team good luck at the World Cup in Qatar. The US President's official Instagram account posted a video showing Biden making the call. The cameras are also present in the dressing room of the football team.

Biden starts the call with a joke. "Coach, put me up, I'm ready to play," he says to coach Gregg Berhalter (49). He then continues more seriously: "I know you're the underdog but I'll tell you what, folks. You have some of the best players in the world on your team and you represent this country and I know you're pushing yourself so let's shock them all".

The president, who turned 80 yesterday, gives the team a piece of advice: "Keep trusting each other, play as hard as you can and you know that the whole country has its fingers crossed for you and your families, your teammates".

Gregg Berhalter expressed his thanks: "This is very nice news Mr. President. The whole team is here now and we really appreciate your support and we are ready to go.".

The USA will play in a group with England, Wales and Iran at the World Cup in Qatar. While England is considered the clear favourite, the USA is fighting with the other two selection teams for second place in the round of 16.
