Filmmaker James Gunn ("Suicide Squad") presents his new "Man of Steel": A good year before the planned theatrical release of "Superman", 57-year-old Gunn posted a photo of US actor David Corenswet (30) in the legendary blue -red costume online.

Filming on the new superhero adventure has already started. In the photo, Superman is putting on his red boots. The blue jersey with the large S symbol on the chest appears slightly worn and dirty.

Origin of Superman

Corenswet, who starred in TV series such as "The Politician" and "Hollywood", succeeds Briton Henry Cavill (41), who played the DC hero in "Man of Steel" (2013) "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016) and "Justice League" (2017).

Rachel Brosnahan (33, "House of Cards") will play Superman's girlfriend Lois Lane. The new episode will be dedicated to the origin of the superhero, who was sent to Earth by his parents from the planet Krypton. There he is found by a childless couple in the US state of Kansas and grows up as Clark Kent. The cinema release is planned for July 2025.
