The Swedish singer Marie Fredriksson, known from the duo Roxette, is dead. She was 61 years old.
It confirms her manager, Marie Dimberg, in a press release, writes the Swedish newspaper Expressen.
- It is with great sadness that we must announce that one of our greatest and most beloved artists are gone.
Marie Fredriksson died on the morning of the 9. december as a result of his previous illness, it is said in the message.
She leaves the husband Mikael Bolyos and their two children.

It was the beginning of a long illness. Marie Fredriksson was later declared healthy but still had health challenges after radiation treatments.
In Marie Fredrikssons autobiography by 2015 "Laws of Life", she says, that she, in spite of the health issues still had a lust for life.
- It feels at last as though I've reconciled myself with having a strålingsskade.
- I have lost many years to the disease. But every day I think, I'm thankful to be sitting here. And that I can still sing, she wrote in the biography.
Roxette was founded in 1986 and is one of Sweden's most internationally known bands with hits like "It Must Have Been Love" "listen to Your Heart" and "Spending My Time".
As a result of the Fredrikssons disease went Roxette in the resolution, but was restored again in 2009 and have toured regularly since.
