HOUSTON , Atlanta's 6-2 win over Houston in Game 1 was seen by an average of 10,811,000 viewers. This is 17.5% more than the 9,195,000 who saw the Los Angeles Dodgers' 8-3 victory over Tampa Bay last season.

The Braves-Astros total was the second-lowest to begin a Series.

The average rating for Tuesday's game was 6.1, with 15 shares on Fox. Fox reported that the game averaged 11,077,000 viewers for Fox, Fox Deportes Spanish-language coverage, and Fox's streaming apps. This was an 82% increase in the number of viewers who watched the World Series opener.

The low-viewed Game 1 was San Francisco's win over Kansas City 7-1 on Oct. 21, 2014. This game was viewed an average 12,191,000 times on Tuesday nights.

The Series was played at Arlington, Texas as a neutral venue due to the pandemic. It received a television rating of 32% lower than the previous World Series low. Nielsen Media Research reported that the six Fox games last year averaged a 5.2 ratings, 12 share, and 9,785,000 viewers. For the San Francisco Giants' four game sweep of the Detroit Tigers, in 2012, the previous low was 7.6 ratings, 12 share and 12,660,000 viewership.

Rating is the percentage of households that have tuned in to a broadcast. The share refers to the percentage of households that have a TV and are able to view a broadcast.
