The One-Euro-sticker, brought me a precious memory back

the Destination of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the spring of 1972, on a postcard, which sent the brother of my father from the North sea coast. At the time, my parents were planning to after exciting years in the metropolis, under the Sugarloaf mountain, the return of our family in the home. We children should grow up with a lot of freedom and good air.

My father applied to various schools, his younger brother took the eligible cities in Germany in a critical light. When he visited the tranquil town of Otterndorf on the world shipping lanes on this occasion, was my uncle immediately fire and flame, and wrote on the back of the postcard: "Here you will feel at ease. Here the children can experience freedom and adventure.“ Convinced.

We moved there and have never regretted it. Since my father was always a friend of making the world a little more colorful, adorned soon, the most beautiful Work of his art classes to the local hospital. To praise the advantages of our new home, designed by my father an attractive car stickers for the city marketing took back gratefully and produced. The larger neighbouring town of Cuxhaven, used as a mascot "Jan Cux", a little blue Sailors. My Dad drew a picture of a quaint sea-dogs: "of Hein Ott." I happen to have recently uncovered exactly this now 50-year-old stickers on Ebay and have it linked directly in the first place.

It was when I met my dad in the net himself. He also wore a "Prince Heinrich cap", such as the fur seal on the Sticker and on the fireplace he smoked often a whistle. With his bike he drove to the embankment, sat down on a bench and looked out to sea. In silence, grateful. When I once asked phases, and, after long minutes, why he looked so fond of the water, my dad took me in the Arm and quoted Thomas Mann: "The sea is not a landscape, it is the experience of eternity." I myself will be going with my family today, most of all to the sea, it always makes us happy.
