Rural areas hard hit - every third atm machine is gone

You must walk, run or cycle longer in order to be able to withdraw cash from an atm than it was ten years back.

Thus closed, 1000 atms in Denmark since 2008, informs trade Finance Denmark to DR.

The fewer the number of atms is especially a loss for the rural areas.

the Decrease was due to less use of cash, and because the vending machines are expensive in operation.

F. eks. showed recent figures from the national Bank, that only 16 per cent. - thus every sixth customer to pay by cash.

Digitaliseringsdirektør at trade Finance Denmark, Michael Busk-Jepsen, predicted that machines will disappear.

"Our best guess is that you will get to see a decline in the number of atms. It is the way the world develops. When the demand for atms falls, so falls the desire to put them up, of course," he says to the tv station.

In 2019, there are around 2,100 machines back.
