The French Adrian Mannarino, 69th in the world, and Benjamin Bonzi, 52nd, lost as soon as they entered the running Tuesday at Roland-Garros. Mannarino, lacking results for several months was beaten 6-1, 7-6 (7/1), 6-2 by Argentinian Federico Delbonis (65th).

The Frenchman ended his first-round losing streak last week in Lyon, passing a round for the first time since Delray Beach in February. By beating the Russian Aslan Karatsev, he had won his first victory on clay in more than three years. But in the next round, he had come up against the young Danish hopeful Holger Rune.

This time, he was no match for Delbonis, notably letting slip a great opportunity in the 2nd set where he led 5-2 before being joined and losing in the tie-break. Bonzi's match against Frances Tiafoe (27th) was tighter, but the Frenchman ended up losing 7-5, 7-5, 7-6 (7/5) after almost three hours of fighting.

The current N.3 tricolor has multiplied the unforced errors (45) against the American who offered his first victory in the Parisian Grand Slam.
