People: Céline Dion on Vogue cover - singer talks about her illness

The singer Céline Dion, who suffers from the so-called stiff person syndrome, was photographed for the May cover of the French "Vogue". In an interview with the magazine, she talks about her life with the rare autoimmune disease.

It's "a lot of work" to fight it, but she takes each day as it comes. The 56-year-old continued that she had not beaten the disease. "I hope we find a miracle cure, a way to cure with scientific research, but for now I have to learn to live with it."

She would do physical therapy and vocal training five days a week. Instead of giving up, she decided to work with her entire body and mind -  “from head to toe” - with a medical team. Nothing would stop her, assured the mother of three. The love and support of her family, her fans and her team would help her.

She cannot currently give a date for a possible return to the stage. She will listen to her body. But she holds on to the dream and the will.

Dion announced in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with the rare neurological disease. She suffers from muscle cramps and sometimes has problems walking and singing. That's why the "My Heart Will Go On" singer canceled all dates of her "Courage World Tour" in Europe planned for 2023 and 2024. In January, she announced that she wanted to chronicle her battle with illness in the documentary "I Am: Céline Dion." She caused a surprise with an appearance at the Grammys in February. Dion took the stage to present the best album of the year.
