Biden made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Monday. The US President's arrival in Kiev was kept strictly secret from the public for security reasons. After his return to Poland, however, it became known that Biden had landed in Poland by plane on Sunday evening and had traveled ten hours by train to Kiev from there.

It was Biden's first visit to Ukraine since Russia invaded on February 24, 2022, and the first visit by a US president to the country since 2008.
