Italy: Aunt and nephew are born almost at the same time and in the same hospital

Mara and Paola from Naples did not expect that: mother and daughter gave birth to their babies spontaneously in mid-January almost at the same time. So Futura and Giovanni were born less than 24 hours apart and are actually aunt and nephew. And Mara is not only a new mother, but also a grandmother at the same time.

Mara became a mom in 2002 at the age of 15. At that time their daughter Paola was born. Now the 35-year-old has become a mother again. It's a girl again, the little one gets the name Futura. As the medical director of the "Ospedale Cardarelli" hospital, Antonio d'Amore, reveals in the RTL interview, Futura came a little early, but she is in excellent health and weighs 3.4 kilograms, according to the doctor.

Mara's daughter Paola was also pregnant, but there were a few days between the expected birth dates. The 21-year-old finally went into labor spontaneously. She made her way to a hospital in Naples. As she found out later, that coincidentally happened to be the same place where her mother had given birth to her little sister a few hours earlier.

So Mara's grandchild set off into the big, wide world only a short time after his aunt. Giovanni was eventually born weighing 3.8 kilograms. Only about 24 hours after his little aunt Futura.

Mom and now grandmother Mara now share a room in the hospital with her daughter Paola and her grandson Giovanni. But according to the hospital report, the four could soon go home.

The "Ospedale Cardarelli" proudly published this unusual story on their Facebook page. In the RTL interview, the medical director of the Antonio d'Amore hospital said that there had actually never been a case where mother and daughter gave birth to babies in their hospital almost at the same time. He's also proud of his team, d'Amore continued. "We wish the new mothers all the best from the bottom of our hearts. I would also like to thank my team for a really great job with both births."
