A 61-year-old shot a 47-year-old several times in a parking lot in Bodenmais, Bavaria, seriously injuring her. The woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Straubing police said.

The suspect initially fled in a car. A little later he was found dead at his place of work. Relatives told police he killed himself.

It was initially unclear whether and how the 61-year-old and the 47-year-old were in a relationship with each other. It will also be checked whether the man had a license for the murder weapon.

According to officials, the 47-year-old was an employee of a retirement home. However, the case has no connection to the nursing home. The residents were never in danger.
