Baden-Württemberg: After a nursing home fire - application for preventive detention

After the fire in a social-psychiatric nursing home in Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg, in which three people were killed, the investigation into a resident has been completed. The public prosecutor's office submitted an application to the Tübingen district court for preventive detention in a psychiatric hospital, as announced on Wednesday. The Germans are accused of murder, arson and attempted murder.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the 58-year-old is said to have set her bed on fire on the evening of January 17th. Accordingly, she is said to have tried to take her own life. A 53-year-old roommate and two roommates aged 73 and 88 were killed in the fire. The 58-year-old was seriously injured.

The authority assumes that the mentally ill person had no controllability at the time of the crime. She is not guilty and therefore cannot be charged. In the event of an application for a security procedure, however, there will still be a procedure. The application takes the place of an indictment.
