After an amok threat, the police evacuated a school in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday morning. All students and teachers were brought to safety, said a police spokesman. Since there was no acute danger on site, the students could have left the building in an orderly manner and did not have to hole up in their classrooms. The police were also deployed with special forces.

The investigation into the sender of the amok threat was still ongoing, said a spokeswoman. The threat was sent via email. The threat of the amok act had to be taken seriously and the school was therefore evacuated at short notice.
