In the past few weeks, some viewers have wondered where Alina Merkau (36) is. On March 13, the presenter returned to "Sat.1 Breakfast TV" after a short break. On Instagram she gives a brief insight into her first day in the studio.

"I can hardly believe it myself, but I'm sitting on 'Sat.1 breakfast television'," joked Merkau in a story. "But it's the same as always, I have to say." The 36-year-old came in, hugged everyone "and now it's like I've never been away". She also commented: "It's crazy how these weeks have flown by, everything as always and that's a good thing." In another story, she explained after the show that she was tired but happy.

"Alina is back," said her co-moderator Daniel Boschmann (42) in a story. She didn't take her time off "because I wanted to get away from the 'Sat.1 breakfast television', but to enjoy family time," Merkau also explained in an interview with the "t-online" portal. "That was the last time we could do this freely before my daughter starts school."

Merkau has been with her partner Rael Hoffmann since 2013. Their first child together, their daughter Rosa, was born in 2016. In the summer of 2021, the moderator was happy to announce on Instagram that the couple also had a son, Carlo.
