Leipzig/Dresden: slump in passenger numbers: Corona-crisis hits airports

From January to June were a total of approximately 573 000 passengers and is thus well-69 per cent less than in the prior-year period. The mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, said on Wednesday in Leipzig. From April to June, the passenger traffic had come completely to a Standstill, it said. In the month of June, both Airports recorded a decline of just under 99 percent. Air cargo, however, was affected by the crisis much less in Leipzig/Halle freight volumes rose by four percent to around 634 000 tons. The show that the airport is in the fight against the Corona of a pandemic to take a Central position in the supply of the population, the company said. In June alone, the freight volumes at Leipzig/Halle Airport increased in comparison with the previous year to 16.1 percent.
