Things get serious from July 20: The women's soccer World Cup starts in Australia and New Zealand. For football fans in Germany, this sometimes means getting up early! Because of the time difference, the impulses take place at quite unusual times.
For a long time it looked as if fans in Germany would have to do without broadcasting the games of the largest women's football tournament. The salvation came just a few weeks ago: the public broadcasters ARD and ZDF show most of the games live and in full length. The games from the first two matchdays of the group stage will be broadcast without exception. On the third day of the preliminary round there are still eight of 16 matches.
The opening game takes place on Thursday between co-hosts New Zealand and Norway. Kick-off is 9:00 a.m. Central European Time (CEST) in Auckland. The opening game can be seen on ARD and in the ARD media library.
At 12 noon (CEST) the second host country, Australia, plays Ireland. ARD also broadcasts this game on TV and in the ARD media library.
The first game for the German team is on Monday (July 24th). At 10.30 a.m. (CEST), the DFB women are challenged against outsiders Morocco in Melbourne. The game can be seen on ZDF and in the ZDF Mediathek.
