It seems as significant as it is absurd when Russia, of all people, promotes peace. However, this is what happened in the Middle East on Sunday. Then Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Putin's chief propagandist in the war with Ukraine, called Israel to mediate the tense situation. During the telephone conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, Lavrov emphasized that Russia was "seriously concerned about the new cycle of violence". At least that's what the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
