Klara Geywitz: How the Finns fight homelessness - and what we could learn from it: A visit by the Minister for Construction in Helsinki

"Home" is written on Petri Olavimyllynen's doormat. Actually not unusual, but in this place at this time it almost seems as if it was placed especially for the guests. Olavimyllynen has lived here since August, wearing a cap that says "Suomi", Finland in Finnish. In his apartment he has installed blue light that indirectly illuminates the television. A bicycle stands in the entrance, a chain of lights lies decoratively on the table.

Before Olavimyllynen moved here, the Finn didn't have an apartment. He lived in a homeless shelter for seven years. He volunteered to show his apartment today. He's proud of it.
