Russia no longer has many friends in the world after its invasion of Ukraine almost a year ago. Syria and North Korea are among them, but also major players in geopolitics such as China. On the African continent, too, Moscow has good relations with one country: South Africa.

A joint military maneuver with Russia and China started there on Friday. "We are in the preparatory phase, the main maneuver will take place on February 22," said military sources.
