Somewhere between fairy tales and Agatha Christie is "The Peacock", a whimsical, over-the-top poultry thriller about a bunch of arrogant bankers. They come together for a team building in the Scottish highlands. But as soon as they arrive at the Scottish country estate, the signs for a relaxed weekend are not good. And then there's the mystery of a missing peacock. The film is based on a novel of the same name by Isabel Bogdan. Director Lutz Heineking Jr. was able to win an ensemble around David Kross, Jürgen Vogel, Tom Schilling and Annette Frier.

New film from Japanese "Shoplifters" director

His film "Shoplifters" won the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 2018. Now the new film by the Japanese Hirokazu Kore-eda is coming to the cinemas. "Broker" tells another unusual family story. South Korean Song Kang-ho ("Parasite") plays a man named Sang-hyun, one of a part of a petty criminal duo. Together with his partner Dong-soo (Gang Dong-won), he has come up with a business model: They pick up babies that are handed in at the baby hatch and sell them to wealthy couples. One night, young mother So-young (Lee Ji-eun) leaves her newborn in the baby hatch. It falls into the hands of Sang-hyun and Dong-soo. But So-young returns unexpectedly and now wants to have a say in the choice of adoptive parents. The three set off on a road trip across South Korea in a minivan to find a good family for the baby.

Thriller "Inside" with Willem Dafoe
