Matthew Perry (53) wants to delete a tasteless sentence about Keanu Reeves (58) in future editions of his autobiography. According to the Los Angeles Times, the "Friends" star promised this at the weekend at a book festival organized by the newspaper. "I said a stupid thing," Perry admitted. "It was mean to do something like that."

What happened? In his autobiography "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing", which was published in November 2022, Perry laments the early death of his fellow friends River Phoenix (1970-1993) and Chris Farley (1964-1997). Both had fallen victim to a drug overdose.

In his book, Perry asks why do such talented people have to die while Keanu Reeves is allowed to live. Literally: "Why do original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger [1979-2008] die, but Keanu Reeves is still with us?" When he writes about Chris Farley elsewhere, the comparison with Keanu Reeves comes up again.

Matthew Perry has not personally apologized to his Canadian compatriot Keanu Reeves, but he has publicly apologized. "I'm actually a big fan of Keanu," People recently quoted him as saying. "I just chose a random name, my fault. I apologize for that. I should have used my own name instead."
