There are a handful of award ceremonies for numerous professions - for example for filmmakers, musicians and footballers. With the newly created Coronation Champions Awards, King's wife Camilla (75) now also wants to duly honor heroes from everyday life. Together with the organization Royal Voluntary Service, she is asking the people of Great Britain to nominate "outstanding volunteers in the country" "who have helped their communities," according to the organization's website.

Camilla's direct appeal to the British people: "If you know volunteers who are making a difference, please share their stories. We look forward to hearing from you!" The aim is to "steer the spotlight on the Herculean tasks of our national volunteers. Across the country there are millions of unsung heroes who serve their local communities and generously donate their time and talents to improve the lives of others."

Including until April 2 of this year, people can submit their proposals. From these, 500 volunteers are then selected, who are recognized with a pin and a certificate signed by Queen Camilla. Some of them will also be able to attend various official events. The coronation concert at Windsor Castle and a coronation garden party are explicitly mentioned on the site. The Coronation of King Charles III. (74) will take place on May 6th this year.

Several celebrities also support the Coronation Champions Awards, including actress Dame Judi Dench (88), singer Elaine Paige (74) and TV presenter Nadiya Hussain (38). According to Dench, the award ceremony is "a great opportunity to pause and express our gratitude".

There are some restrictions for the nominees. He or she must be at least 14 years old, and the activity must not have been more than five years in the past. This must also come from one of the following eight social areas: support for the elderly/support for young people and children/emergency aid and welfare/charitable work/sport, culture and tradition/health and care/sustainability and the environment/animal welfare.
