"Avatar": Hollywood premiere without James Cameron - positive corona test

The Hollywood premiere of "Avatar: The Way of Water" has to take place without director James Cameron because of a positive corona test. The 68-year-old told the film portal "Deadline.com" that he could not go to his own premiere. He recently traveled from Tokyo to Los Angeles and is now isolating himself there.

A Disney spokesman told US media that Cameron is doing well despite the corona infection. He will take part in events online. Last week, the native Canadian attended the world premiere in London.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" stars such as Kate Winslet, Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Edie Falco were expected to attend the screening in Hollywood.

With "Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora" (2009) Cameron created the most financially successful film in history. In 2017, he began working on four more "Avatar" films simultaneously. The other parts are scheduled to start in 2024, 2026 and 2028.
