Monae will be the parade's Grand Marshall Icon. Siwa will join as WeHo Pride’s Next Gen Icon.
The upcoming West Hollywood Pride Parade will be headlined by JoJo Siwa and Janelle Monae, according to a city news release.
The 36-year-old Grammy-nominated performer will be honored as the parade’s Grand Marshal Icon, "for continuing to inspire and the world with her incredible artry and advocacy," while Siwa, 19 will join as WeHo Pride’s Next Gen Icon.
Lauren Meister, City of West Hollywood Mayor, stated that #WeHoPride is a joyous event for the community. "Our amazing icons Janelle Monae (and JoJo Siwa) truly reflect our core values." Pride celebrations are more than just festivals and parades. Pride events offer the LGBTQ community a platform to promote equality and a space to celebrate who they are.
Jeff Consoletti, the Founder and CEO JJLA and Executive Producer of WeHo Pride, added: "This year’s inaugural WeHo Pride Parade will increase visibility with diverse voices Janelle Monae, JoJo Siwa, each of whom are being recognized for using their platform for advocacy for the community."
The WeHo Pride weekend celebration will take place from June 3 to 5, and will feature street and art fairs as well as OUTLOUD. Raising Voices, which is a three-day concert series that highlights LGBTQ+ artists. Headliners Jessie J and Years & Years, Marina, and Lil Kim are just a few of the nearly 50 performances.

Red Table Talk's April episode featured the actor and musician, who revealed that she is non-binary. She told The Los Angeles Times that she will use both they/them as well as she/her pronouns moving forward.
"I don't think I see myself as a woman solely. Monae stated that she feels all of her energy to Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield–Norris. "I feel like God's power is greater than the he or the she. "
"And if God is my source, then I am everything." The Memory Librarian author continued, "But I will always, always stand beside women." She came out as a pansexual in 2018 and is now a Memory Librarian author. "I will always stand by Black women. But I see all that I am beyond the binary.
