Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax with a small daily and weekly plus

The Dax closed on Friday with little change. Interest was primarily focused on a speech by US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on US monetary policy, which in the afternoon ensured that the leading index gave up interim gains again. At the close of trading, the Dax rose by 0.07 percent to 15,631.82 points. On a weekly basis, it recorded an increase of 0.4 percent. The index had previously recorded a minus three times in a row. The MDax with medium-sized German shares fell by 0.39 percent to 26,999.47 points on Friday.

At the Fed conference in Jackson Hole, Powell left the door open for further rate hikes, but did not become more specific. "The US Federal Reserve stands ready to raise interest rates further if necessary," he said in Jackson Hole on Friday. In the first reactions, investors found it difficult to interpret the statements. They could not draw any clear conclusions from it.
