Two people were critically injured in an accident on the Autobahn 57 near Moers on Tuesday evening. The police in Düsseldorf said four cars were involved in the rear-end collision. In a chain reaction, the cars were pushed onto each other after braking. One person was trapped in a car and had to be freed. A rescue helicopter is on site.

The accident happened in the direction of Nijmegen. All three lanes were blocked. The police directed traffic past the scene of the accident using an exit lane. The backlog was several kilometers long.
