Many believe that Cowboys runningback Tony Pollard is a better overall weapon than Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys will be showcasing Pollard more this year.

Clarence E. Hill, Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, explained that Pollard will have a bigger role this year, which includes time in the backfield as well as reps from the slot.

Pollard stated, via Hill, that "I'm open for anything just being on field, being in a position to make the most out of my opportunities." "If I need to be in the slot a bit more, whatever it takes to make it work, I'm willing to do it. . . . It's necessary to make one or two guys miss before I can go to the races.

Elliott is older and more fresh-looking than Pollard, who has an eight-figure salary. This is primarily due to his 2019 contract extension which saw his 2022 salary become fully guaranteed in 2021.

Hill mentions that Pollard started his career in Memphis as a receiver before moving on to running back. He's now back as a receiver and running back.

Pollard stated, "It's definitely returning to me now." "I feel more at ease."

This will make it easier for the Cowboys to play offense in 2022. However, things will become more difficult in 2023. They'll likely be moving on from Elliott and hoping to get Pollard signed again -- but not to the contract the Cowboys can easily escape.
