Storm: After thunderstorms and heavy rain: situation calmed down again

After thunderstorms and heavy rain, the situation in the southwest has calmed down again. There are no more operations, police headquarters reported on Friday upon request.

Storms caused some streams to swell in Baden-Württemberg on Thursday evening. Streets were flooded and cellars were overflowing. Bisingen in the Zollernalb district was hit particularly hard, where, according to police, cellars and streets were under water. The police said there would still be disruptions in the area. A state road remained closed to through traffic on Friday morning.

As the "Schwäbische Zeitung" reported online, a hailstorm hit the community of Laichingen in the Alb-Donau district.

The weather in the southwest will initially remain cool and changeable, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced. At the weekend it can get up to 21 degrees on the Rhine.

In Bisingen, the situation eased again on Thursday evening, as the police reported. According to a spokesman, no people were missing or injured. As the police later reported, people were brought to safety from houses by rescuers - how many residents were affected by the evacuation remained unclear at first. The material damage in the area cannot be estimated at the moment. Two streams had swollen due to heavy rain and were reported to have flooded the small town.

According to the police, a street in Schriesheim (Rhein-Neckar district) was also under water on Thursday and there were traffic delays. Lightning strikes triggered several fire brigade operations in Stuttgart. Some roads were closed.
