At the end of the Easter holidays, many drivers in southern Germany had to be patient - but there was no chaos. According to observations by the ADAC, the main traffic jams at the weekend were the A8 and 9 motorways. Yesterday there was a delay of more than an hour on the A8 between Ulm and Mühlhausen in the direction of Stuttgart.

Today, travelers on the A 9 near Schnaittach in the direction of Nuremberg had to plan an hour as well as on the A 96 Munich in the direction of Lindau between Leutkirch and Aitrach. In addition, the A 9 between Plech and Hormersdorf was completely closed for around two hours after an accident.

At the end of the school holidays in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and five other federal states, according to initial estimates, the ADAC recorded less travel on the motorways than on the Easter holidays. "We are not yet at the level we were in before Corona," said a spokeswoman for the automobile club on Sunday on request. Final figures will not be available until tomorrow.

In other parts of Germany there were also longer traffic jams with waiting times of one hour at the weekend: For example on Saturday on the A3 motorway from Arnhem towards Oberhausen and on the A2 Hanover towards Dortmund. At the weekend there was also a traffic jam on the A 12 from Frankfurt/Oder in the direction of Berlin.
