A drunk driver damaged several cars while intoxicated. Passers-by saw the 42-year-old on Thursday evening on Feurigstrasse in Schöneberg to the left of the road and drive into a parked car, the police reported on Friday. Another car was damaged in the accident. The man remained motionless in the car. Alarmed police officers tried to address him by shouting and knocking. When that didn't work, the officers smashed the window and opened the car door.

The 42-year-old was therefore unharmed. A breath alcohol test carried out showed 2.5 per thousand. There was an empty liquor bottle on the passenger seat. A police spokeswoman said it was initially unclear whether the man was briefly unconscious or asleep. The investigation is ongoing.
