"Time Crime": The popular podcast becomes a series

Fans of the crime podcast "Time Crime" have reason to be happy. Because the popular format of the two "Zeit" journalists Sabine Rückert (62) and Andreas Sentker (59) will soon run on the screens as a fictional series. The publishing group has now announced this. Four films will be produced exclusively for XFilme's Paramount streaming service. Each strip is inspired by a case from the podcast. Filming has already started and is expected to continue until the end of June.

Each film gets its own director: Faraz Shariat (29), Helene Hegemann (31), Mariko Minoguchi (born 1988) and Jan Bonny (44) have been hired. For the screenplays, they sometimes worked with authors, including Raquel Dukpa, Paulina Lorenz, Esther Preußler and Jan Eichberg. "Babylon Berlin" makers Uwe Schrott and Jorgo Narjes are on board as producers.

"I'm very happy that we chose X-Filmer and Paramount. I'm sure they'll be able to convey the elaborately researched crime stories of the 'Zeit' editorial team - which are the basis for this project - wonderfully into feature films", Sabine Rückert is quoted as saying in the press release. "Each of the four films follows its very own narrative approach and promises an extraordinary implementation that will not only captivate fans of the podcast," promise Jorgo Narjes and Uwe Schrott.

In April 2018, the podcast "Time Crime" was launched. Criminal cases based on research by Sabine Rückert or other reporters from the newspaper "Die Zeit" are discussed. Together with Andreas Sentker, the deputy editor-in-chief will guide you through the format. "Zeit Crime" is one of the most popular German-language podcasts and was awarded the German Podcast Prize in 2020.
