During a week of goodbyes to family and friends, the three victims of the attack on a Buffalo grocery store were laid to rest Friday.

Geraldine Talley (62), of Buffalo; Andre Mackniel (53), of Auburn; Margus Morrison (52), of Buffalo were among the 10 killed and three others wounded in the shooting attack on Tops Friendly Market employees and shoppers on May 14. According to authorities, he chose the grocery shop because it is located in a predominantly Black area.

The Rev. said, "We cannot stand here today and cry out for Geraldine and not ensure justice is done for Geraldine." Al Sharpton, a well-known civil rights activist, spoke to mourners at Talley’s service at Mount Aaron Missionary Baptist Church.

Talley's son Mark Talley and he spoke out against the lack of investment in East Side neighborhoods that gave an opportunity for someone to kill Black people with only one supermarket.

They also condemned the easy access to semiautomatic rifles that were used in Buffalo by the 18 year-old gunman, then later by the 18 year-old suspect who was accused of murdering 19 students and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas 10 days later.

Mark Talley stated that he had predicted such attacks would continue soon after his mother's passing. It's Groundhog's Day. He said that he had seen it over and over again.

Talley stated that it was not necessary to keep an AR-15 under your bed at home. "No need for you to have an AR-15 to protect yourself and your family."

Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, is scheduled to attend Saturday's funeral for victims of supermarkets. Ruth Whitfield, 86, is remembered. Jill Biden, first lady and President Joe Biden visited Buffalo to meet with their families and to lay flowers at the memorial on May 17.

Talley's family and friends said that she was an excellent baker and treated them to pastries, cakes, and apple crisp. Gregory Allen was her fiancé when the shooting began. Allen was in another aisle and made it safely.

Mackniel was a father and grandfather who was picking up a cake for his son's birthday when he was shot to death. His obituary stated that he was a stay-at home father and cook to his son.

It said that Andre loved to play basketball, write poetry, and listen to music. But, most importantly, Andre was very family-oriented.

After Mackniel's funeral, his cousin Franchione Cook stated that André was an intelligent person. He was also sweet and loved his family. It's sad. That's the truth. It was a good thing, and I feel sorry for those who were affected by the tragedy in Texas. It's sad that this is happening in America.

Morrison was remembered by Mourners as a Bills fan, jokester and music lover.

Pastor Darius Pridgen remarked that Morrison's smile was always there at the funeral at Buffalo True Bethel Baptist Church. Pridgen, president of the Buffalo Common Council, honored Morrison.

Pridgen said, "Even though his jokes weren't funny, he kept going joking," and he realized he knew him because they would meet at Tops Friendly Market.

Margus believed that this was his purpose. He said that even in your sorrow, it's possible to find some time to be okay.

Morrison, a father to seven children, was a bus aide for Buffalo Public Schools since 2019. His family stated that he was shopping for snacks and dinner on Saturday before the supermarket shooting.

Pridgen said to mourners that the attack on a supermarket by an avowed white supremacist must serve as a reminder of how racism must be defeated.

He said, "There are still some who are giants white supremacists and they are in all our banks, schools, churches, White House, statehouse, city hall."

Margus' mother Theresa Morrison turned 72 on the day of Margus' funeral. Ramariana Morrison was Margus' 16-year-old daughter.
