The jury found that Doherty's Malibu home was not covered by insurance and that it was unreasonable.

The verdict includes damages to Doherty’s home and property, as well as emotional distress and attorney’s fees.

Devin McRae, Doherty’s attorney, stated in a statement that "We thank members of the jury for thoughtful consideration of Shannen’s case." We are glad they saw the case in the same way that we do. This should be a signal to State Farm and other institutions, that they must remember they are dealing with human beings.

Doherty, a 50-year-old former star on "Beverly Hills 90210," "Charmed", and "Heathers", revealed that her 2015 breast cancer diagnosis had recurred in February 2020 and had progressed to stage 4.

According to her attorneys, she is not content to live out her remaining years in peace in her home. Ms. Doherty is displaced and fighting with her insurance company.

State Farm released a statement Monday saying, "We sympathize with Ms. Doherty’s health and wish them the best. We are disappointed with the jury's decision, and respectfully disagree. We will investigate all legal options including appealing the verdict.
