A patrol car of the police inspection Merzig ran on the L 158 in the direction of Losheim as the official output of a long sweeping curve to the left and a Citroen van coming from the other side on your lane. In order to prevent a head-on collision with the Citroen, the police officers had to take the radio patrol full braking and of the vehicle to the left to Dodge. The Citroen came up in connection unchecked from the road, fell several feet down an embankment and collided in the forest head-on with a tree. By the police officers at the beginning of the vehicle was able to fire to the casualty box, the car immediately will be deleted. At the same time the bearing was jammed and severely injured driver recovered from the accident vehicle. After initial treatment by the police officers, the 18-year-old driver was transferred with serious head injuries in a Trier hospital. Because of the suspicion of alcohol influence has been initiated against the young driver, a criminal case.
