Some stars claimed they would leave Twitter after Elon Musk purchased it. Others pledged to return.

Elon Musk's attempt to buy Twitter for $44million yielded results this week.

Some stars claimed they would leave Twitter after Elon Musk purchased it. Others pledged to return.

The Tesla chief also revealed plans to make the company a safe haven for "free speech." This acquisition by the richest man on the planet has caused a lot of controversy, with several high-profile figures taking part.

Musk has promised to remove stars from the platform and allow hateful comments to be posted on their feeds. Some users who have broken the community guidelines previously hope to find a new opportunity through the app. Some people are still here for a different reason.

Some high-profile users are vowing to quit

Jameela Jamil (actress and activist), who has 1,000,000 followers on Twitter, wrote shortly after Musk's acquisition this week that it would be her last tweet.

"Ah, he got Twitter [sic]. This would be my last tweet. She shared photos of her dog and herself, saying that she had "just really*any* excuse to show Barold pictures." "I am afraid that this free speech bid will help this hell platform reach its ultimate form of lawless hate and bigotry, misogyny, and total lawlessness. We wish you all the best.

After Musk acquired Twitter, activist Shaun King was forced to leave the site. However, he returned hours later. His bio now says: "I'm still there m f ******."" King joined the platform to support Musk. He shared past reports about racism and toxic work environments at Tesla, Musk's company, while he was there.

He also shared Musk’s tweet, where Musk explains his "free speech” plans for Twitter. Musk said, "I only mean what is legal." I oppose censorship that goes beyond the law. People will demand that government pass laws to limit free speech if they want to be less free. Musk stated that going beyond the law is against the will of the people.

King responded, "This is exactly what we expected. King stated that he would allow hate speech and white supremacy on the platform, which is legal in the United States. He plans to allow legal misinformation and disinformation on the platform.

Erik Larsen, comic book writer, worked on The Amazing Spider-Man series from the 1990s. He pledged early in Musk's acquisition process that he would delete his Twitter if he succeeded in buying it. Larsen appears to have left the platform after the purchase.

Mick Foley, a wrestler, hasn't yet left the platform, but he said Monday that he would. He wrote, "I'll be seriously considering leaving @Twitter in the near future." "I don't have a good idea about where this platform goes."

Amy Siskind, activist and author, had a similar reaction. "I'm sitting here with my thoughts and watching and I haven't decided whether or not I will stay. It is a big philosophical problem for me to know that any content I post here will directly benefit one man, whom I consider absolutely terrible. Watching. Watching.

In a tweet, she said that "I don’t regard him as a mentally unstable person."

Stars are back on Twitter or staying there

Azealia Banks, a rapper banned from Twitter, announced her return to Instagram. She shared a screenshot from her new Twitter account. She asked Musk on her Instagram stories to "please don’t f*** up this."

Multiple times she was banned from Twitter , including permanently in 2020 because of making transphobic remarks. Do you know how much I don't make because of the years-long Twitter ban? She blamed Jack Dorsey, her Twitter co-founder, for making her lose money on Twitter because she couldn’t reach her fans.

Banks has spoken out about her past feud with Musk and said that she must thank him for purchasing Twitter. She said, "I actually got back on."

Ice Cube claimed that he was "shadow banned", a partial suspension in which an account is visible but not searched or shown in feeds. He rejoiced at the good news. "Free at last!" @elonmusk Take off my shadow ban homie ...", he tweeted.

Jessica Kirson, a comedian, joked about the news. She wrote one tweet: "I'm still on @Twitter, and antidepressants."

"I'm moving to @Twitter If @elonmusk purchases Mars !!!" she wrote another.

Star Trek star George Takei tweet that he was still on the site.

"I won't be going anywhere. If this place becomes more toxic, I promise to work harder to uphold reason, science and compassion, as well as the rule of law. Tough fighters are needed to fight against hate, misinformation, fascism and other forms of hatred. He said, "I hope you will stay in the fight. Right beside me."

Tucker Carlson, Fox New host, was recently suspended after violating Twitter's community guidelines. On Monday, he rejoined Twitter's social media platform writing, 'We're back!

David Weissman, a U.S. Army veteran, sent several tweets critiquing Musk's acquisition. I still believe that Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter is a bad idea. He will spread misinformation, racism, bigots and bigots. He is a bad-faith actor because of his distorted views on free speech and censorship," , he stated.

Weissman is still a writer for Occupy Democrats. This grassroots political organization and news site supporting progressive Democrats supports Weissman. "I won't leave Twitter if Elon Musk purchases Twitter. Who's with me? He tweeted.

"If @elonmusk buys Twitter, the best thing to do is to keep going and [disprove] misinformation, as well as calling out racism, bullying, and bigotry. He wrote Monday.
