The Polish athlete Anita Wlodarczyk, a three-time Olympic hammer champion, was injured while preventing a thief from stealing her car, she herself recounted on social networks.

“I caught the thief and handed him over to the police. Unfortunately, I paid for it with a muscle injury," Wlodarczyk wrote on Instagram. "When my career is over, I think I'll fight in MMA or the UFC," he joked about the incident.

As a result, she will be operated on this Monday. The 36-year-old athlete aspires to conquer her fifth world title in Eugene (United States) from July 15 to 24.

Wlodarczyk, who last year became the first athlete to win three consecutive Olympic golds in one discipline, is considering switching sports when she retires from the hammer.
