Mets' Francisco Lindor misses game after slamming his finger in the hotel door: 'I didn't want to look'

Francisco Lindor, New York Mets shortstop, was unable to attend Thursday's game against Los Angeles Dodgers because of a freak accident

After a door was smashed into his right middle finger, the New York Mets had to face the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday without star Francisco Lindor.

According to the Associated Press the incident occurred Wednesday night when Lindor tried to close a pair of double doors in his hotel bedroom.

"After my massage, I went in my room and found double doors," Anthony DiComo, a 28-year old, told MLB.com reporter Anthony DiComo.

He continued, "I tried to close the doors and didn't think that the other one would shut." "They both closed simultaneously, and I was left with a swollen finger."

Lindor stated that he ran around the room for three minutes after the unfortunate incident.

He recalled, "I didn’t want to look at them." "Then, when I finally looked at the thing, I felt like... 'Okay.' "Okay. I felt like my heart was in that one finger."

According to Sports Illustrated, while Lindor was able to feel a baseball in his hand after the Mets training staff had relieved some swelling, the problem still remained.

Lindor told reporters that "Hopefully tomorrow it will feel a little better."

Steven Cohen, Mets owner, wasn't concerned about his star player. He joked with Twitter followers about the bizarre accident.

You celebrate your childhood dream of being able to flip a bat. Now you realize that you are in a big moment. Why not celebrate it? He said that he disagreed with this statement.

The Dodgers beat Lindor's shorthanded team by 2-0 in Los Angeles' matchup. The Mets will continue to play at Dodger Stadium for three more games, with Sunday's final match of the series.
