Although we don't like to tell you, it's a fact that the Portland Pickles baseball team has announced that Dillon T. Pickle their beloved mascot has been stolen and they need your help in getting him back home.

All of it began in Dominican Republic where Dillon was playing at a Caribbean baseball series. Dillon was scheduled to return to Oregon via New York City the 31st of January. The team shared some shocking news a week later via Twitter: A Delta alert message indicating that the bag he was carrying had been lost at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The tweet was sent by the collegiate summer league team to its 29,000 followers: "You win one championship in this century and think that you're too good to store on an airplane."

The team sent out numerous APBs, which we believe to be "all-pickles bulletin"), requesting help and sharing missing posters. The team, for example, stressed repeatedly that the whole thing was not just a prank gone wrong. OPB member OPB reported that "Dillon the Pickle" has a reputation as a high-jinx character. However, team officials assure the public that they aren't gherkin anyone.

"We are known for being funny, joking and using a lot of social networks. Parker Huffman, assistant general manager, said that OPB understands the 'boy who cried Wolf' scenario. This is not a joke.

Dillon's story changed when Dillon shared with the team that Delta had discovered the mascot, and delivered him to them -- but it was after hours and without notification.

Dillon was not welcomed back with open arms. He was taken from the front porch at 5:05 a.m. local and carried off into the unknown.

Ring doorbell footage shows a man in a jacket, hat and over-ear headphones, walking down the steps of the building with a canvas bag. The team also shared a map showing the scene in response to questions from skeptics about why an office building would have front and back fences.

The Pickles tweeted, "This is made from a mistake Delta into a crime."

They appeal to the Portland people to help Dillon return safely.

Huffman also submitted a police report. The Portland Police Bureau confirmed this to OPB. According to Huffman, Dillon is "priceless" and that it would cost $1,000 to replace the costume.

As the team continues to appeal for help, local journalists, sports fans and elected officials are stepping up the search and sharing support messages on social media.

It tweeted, "Seriously, this man is going to tell somebody that he stole pickle mascot. That cannot be kept secret." Do the right thing."

The team continues to plead for help and laments their loss.
