Interview: Aschheimer turn talent Valentin Zapf talks about his goals and the consequences of the Corona-crisis.

Aschheim–The Aschheimer Valentin Zapf is one of the most promising young gymnasts in Germany. After two third-League seasons with TSV Unterföhring pulls it to the 17-Year-old in the Bundesliga to the TV A. In an Interview with the German youth champion, what he expects from the change explained.

Valentin, eight years ago, they have measured up with one of the best German gymnasts, namely with Philipp Boy...

Yes, that was in the TV show "Big versus Small".

at the Time you have a bet as a nine-year-old that you will create in a Minute more the giant wheels on the bar as the reigning European champion – and you did that. Now you will get to do it again soon with top international athletes in the League with the TV A. What do you expect?

I had been wanting to switch to the Bundesliga. For me, this will be the first point of contact with the absolute world-class athletes. In Warngau, Artur turns, for example, Dalaloyan from Russia, the more battle-world champion in Doha in 2018. Of such people you can learn something that helps me in my further development.

not on a regular basis in A train, or?

no, I train more in Munich and Unterföhring. After A I'm going to arrive just two days before the competition to train together with my team colleagues.

How looks your Training in times of Corona current?

I can. since about five weeks back in the hall, and unlike so many of the gymnasts I train currently, not less, but even a little more Because at the moment I'm only every second week in the school, so that I can train during the teaching-free time twice a day – morning and afternoon.

How it has thrown the Corona break back?

I think that I am in about the same am as before – maybe even a Tick more. But of course, it has thrown me back. It is said as a rule of thumb for gymnasts that it takes four weeks of Training, to a two-week break from training to compensate.

In October to start the League season. What goals do you have this year?

A big goal is the Junior European championship in Baku. It was actually provided at the end of may, has been moved due to Corona on Dec. The EM takes place at all, pleased me very much. For me, this is the last Chance in the Junior section, before I move to the men.
