With another impressive mileage, Vinzenz Geiger secured third place at the Nordic Combined World Cup in Lillehammer. The 25-year-old seemed hopelessly behind after a jump of 131 meters.

In an exciting final sprint, the man from Oberstdorf overtook the Austrian Mario Seidl shortly before the finish line and crossed the finish line in third place behind the Norwegian winner Jarl Magnus Riiber and his compatriot Jens Luraas Oftebro. Geiger was 1:27 minutes behind Seidl at the start of the ten-kilometer race.

The day before, Geiger had shown a strong mileage and sprinted from 18th to third place. On Sunday, Johannes Rydzek also overtook Seidl and finished fourth. Julian Schmid was eighth, Manuel Faißt eleventh and Eric Frenzel was twelfth.
