Tennis professional Jan-Lennard Struff has reached the second round of the Monte Carlo ATP tournament. The 32-year-old Warsteiner defeated the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6: 4, 6: 3 in 88 minutes and confirmed his improving form.

Struff had reached the main draw at the Masters 1000 tournament via qualification and is now facing the winner of the match between the British Andy Murray and Alex de Minaur from Australia. The clay court event is endowed with 5.779 million euros. In addition to Struff, only Alexander Zverev is another German tennis professional in the main field, the Olympic champion meets Kazakh Alexander Bublik on Tuesday.

In his opening match, Struff fended off a breakball from his 35-year-old opponent when the score was 5: 3 in the second set and secured victory with the third match point with an ace. In the world rankings, Struff slipped to 168th place last year, but has now moved back up to 100th place.
